Lon & others with experience in this arena:
I've tried unsuccessfully for the past 3 years or so to germinate Cornus
mas(Corneliancherry dogwood) pits, collected from a group of trees planted
along the Riverwalk here in town. Have had one seedling come up - a
volunteer, which appeared in the blueberry patch - must have dropped out of
my pocket, or perhaps one of the kids spit it out there.
Only thing I can think of that I haven't tried yet is planting immediately
after after collection.
Fruits are beginning to ripen now, and I'd sure like to get a few seedlings
going.
Any tips on on how best to handle the seeds to get some reasonable
germination rate would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lucky Pittman
