The Resuscitation Academy has been well received by those who have made a trip to Seattle for one of the semi-annual 2 day courses. Several communities have more than doubled the long term survival rates from out of hospital cardiac arrest after attending the course. Until now, enrollment has been lim¬ited to just 80 students per year. Now, more EMS leaders can take advantage of the program via the web, and ultimately use the information to increase cardiac arrest survival in their communities. The content for the online Resuscitation Academy will be based on the existing 2 day course. We are fortunate to be incorporating not only the expertise of the long serving leaders of the Seattle and King County EMS systems, but also other experts involved in Medtronic Philanthropy HeartRescue activities. Some of the topics that will be covered include:
10 steps to improve survival High-performance CPR Telecommunicator CPR Participating in a data collection registry Resuscitation science Community CPR and AED programs Medical leadership Creating a culture of excellence
The course features lectures from leading experts, moderated discussion forums, and a rich library of resources all designed to help students make improvements in their own systems as soon as possible.
Who: EMS medical directors, managers, or training officers.
What: A nine-module class that runs October 12 December 15
