FOURTH RACCOON OF THIS SUMMER TESTS POSITIVE FOR RABIES IN RADNOR
A raccoon captured August 18 walking in the street during daylight hours was captured
near School Lane and Louella Avenue tested positive for rabies. Other captures that tested
positive-- July 19 at Darby Paoli Road, July 24 near Lawrence Lane, and August 1 in the 200
block of Bryn Mawr Ave.
Rabies is endemic in SE PA and all domestic animals should be vaccinated against the disease.
Reports of unusual behavior by wild animals dead animals, and wounds should be made to the
local police. Immediate first aid is to wash the wound and seek medical assistance as rapidly as possible.
Have the police or animal control capture the suspect animal if at all possible.
