Route 24 and Route 1 the Sugar Creek area, Iroqouis River expected to crest at 21 feet, its 18.5 now.  No word of highway closing.....yet.

All the rains the area has been getting has turned this start of summer quite miserable with mosquitoes.   Perfect fly season too so keep the pens and barns clean. Temperatures today are to be opressive in the 90's and very humid.

We have had torrential rains, high winds and hail in some areas, with more wet weather coming, lot of trees suffering damages. Power outages, and glitches.

Horses will need free access to salt, shade, plenty of fresh water and to watch for dehydration. PINCH THAT SKIN!  Old horses and the babies and those lossing weight  need to be watched extra careful.  Keep them wormed!  watch for rain rot/scald on skin. Sunburn on noses.

Algea is growing on water tanks like "mad" turning them into swill pits for mosquitos.  They need dumping regularly and the spill areas need tending to keep them from becoming mosquito pits.

Stabled horses could use fans and air circulating in those hot, humid stalls.  Mind the electric things for over heating.  Mind the manure!

Doncha just "love" the rainy nights!?"    They  would be ok if they would cool off, but the nights are starting to stay hot as well.  If this is June weather already, August is sure to be killer weather.  Looks like a long sweltering summer.

Stay cool, hydrated and watch the weather.
