Shirley, as far as I know Texas has no state agency and no state organization
for SAR, so much of what is detailed in the Virginia standard is unusable in
Texas.
The Virginia standards are online for all to download, and links are on our
MSAR website, http://www.ibiblio.org/msar/units/#Virginia. Ditto for Texas,
http://www.ibiblio.org/msar/units/#Texas.
In Texas, the closest thing to a state organization relevant to MSAR may be
TUMPOT, but my communications with them have been very limited. TUMPOT's
website mentions there exists a "Sheriff's Association of Texas"; perhaps
you could make some progress there. Some SAR (and MSAR) units based in west
Texas are recognized by New Mexico as SAR resources, and they do get called
on occasion. New Mexico's SAR certification program applies to ground teams
and MSAR alike, and it too is linked from our MSAR website units directory,
http://www.ibiblio.org/msar/units/#New%20Mexico.
Hope this helps,
Una Smith
