Sadorus search will continue on Sunday if necessary....

Everyone.....

Sometimes it is not a matter of who you are going to call, it is a matter of a community calling the public to search an area for a community member such as a lost child, lost mom.. or even a pet.  You need to keep your ears and eyes peeled for notices, news announcements, open calls etc.

Una makes a great point...she says "NOT ALL MSAR are sheriffs , or posse related".  Some are just simply concerned individuals as well that leave themselves open to help go out on a call.  (Our unit of 2 people and one horse has been just that...concerned individuals..)

She is right that a search can be very emotional.  Especially when lost kids are involved and those where criminal circumstances of foul play surround a case.  Any search has the potential to become dangerous and unsafe.

When you get to a sign in, you will be thoruogly directed by the authorities in charge, be it firedepartment, sheriff, local law, forestry or whomever.  YOU take their directions and do your best.   Sometimes at the end of a ride, just holding a mound on a lead is a job to give someone else a rest.   If I may suggest, have yoru drivers license and photo id ready to be presented.

Many of us here in this forum are well experienced horsemen who also hunt or fish or are into survival.  They just simply like to get out, camp and rough it.  We use our horses for many things.  We share ideas and we help each other.

We have different opinions on equipment, the type of animal, the time of day!  But we get our heads together and this is a fabulous forum to learn and join in.

You will find the "marine" diehard type attitudes, the cowboys, the young and the old here.  And depending on your area, your establishment or if you are starting out will depend on how your unit or your individual experience will work out.  Some days thins will be totally over your head and above your skills..

Some of us here have had some pretty gruesome experiences and some of us have been very lucky to not.

But as the one fella said, there is no such thing as a person not needed when it comes down to a search and in a large community search, there is plenty to do.  They can last for days or weeks and are sometimes not a pleasant experience when the search ends and the one lost is expired.  We pray they are alive to the very end.

Ok, well, there you go.. my 2c, still looking for hay and giving up doughnuts!

Did find my silly cowboy hat though...so what are you searching in.... bandana? ....a motorcycle helmet?    On foot....Whatever... just keep your head!
