Chuck- that's how I do it as well. With tarps after a while I feed treats while standing on top of them AND then I start feeding treats standing UNDER them. My horses can be completely covered with a tarp and stand still and calm. I often think it strange that we are so worried about what a horse will go over and don't pay enough attention to what they will go under. On a hot day on a search it's a plus if your horse will stand under a shade tarp! (or in the rain....etc)
