True, but I would not have suffered the two concussions I had if I had on
more than a ball cap. On one of them, I was suddenly with a herd of cattle
I did not know in country I did not recognize and with people I did not
recognize. I was riding the right front flank steering the cattle to a
destination I did not know. When we got to the main ranch, I had no idea
how my truck and trailer got there. I finally had to tell someone, I had a
concussion. I had apparently been working for the Clark Cattle Company
gathering cattle and went after a heifer. Somehow, while flying after that
heifer on uneven ground, I got unseated and while airborne, my horse went to
the left and I was still there. They said I came down on the side of my
forehead still hanging on to my reins. The horse pulled back and pulled me
up onto my feet. I could slightly remember seeing my horse and being dizzy.
They said I then staggered to the left and picked up my hat before swinging
back on the horse and going back after the heifer. Still cannot remember it
seven years later. I was on a green filly that now I would have worn a
helmet while riding. The other was a green mule that I also would now have
worn a helmet while riding. That one, I rode the top strand of barbed wire
and hit two wooden fence post with my forehead doing about 25 MPH. The
problem with that one, is I remember every painful moment. Was just a
little messed up afterward.

> CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG! Chris Reeves, diagnosed from a fall from
horseback, suffered severe back injuries effecting his SPINE. No hard hat
in the world would have prevented that.
