Irv,

I too have developed many MSAR related training courses. Most of the courses that I've developed have been designed for a to test the KSA's for a pair of mounted responders while on horseback. The remaining courses begin with the mounted responders on horseback and requires the responders to dismount and perform search and/or rescue duties. If you can visual a 5 mile Judged Pleasure Trail Ride that has several [response and/or recovery] MSAR stations you will get the idea of the concept. Our team has professionals within a variety of fields that include but are not limited to; radio communications (base, field, mobile, vhf, uhf and HAM), endurance riding and conditioning, evidence recovery (FBI certified),
Maybe we can meet sometime soon and determine if we could facilitate such a course. If we could find a tax exempt sponsor I would gladly volunteer my services for such a program. Since I am a civil servant and a certified emergency manager working for the federal government, I consider receiving payment for providing SAR related services as a conflict of interest.

I am certain I can custom design a course for SAR, not riding skills, based
on ASTM F2209 and the proposed MSAR 1, as well as such works as Managing
Search Operations, economically for any volunteer MSAR group. By the way,
the horse is your partner, not your transportation.
I have written the trailer safety and extrication course for the PA State
Fire Academy.
