I found the
Test Standards and the tests very informative.I would be interested in reading
more. All my unit does is hang chem lights off the stirups with wire ties and
put one on the riders back. This is mainly so motorists can see us and we can
see each other. It is not intended as a light source for searching. We do a fair
amount of urban work so being seen is a big deal to us. I have noticed at times
my horse will tend to follow a flash light beam. I had been tinkering with a low
power light on the brest collar with a hooded light to shield the horses
head from direct vision with the light source. I think I too will try a simular
test. I'll let you know what happens.
Here is another use for a chem light. Drag it
behind the horse on a 40 piece of string. Its called trolling for Sasquaches we
haven't actually caught one yet, but we are hopeful.
