MSAR Night lights - Part II
A picture of the mounted light system that I designed and
use can be seen at http://www.airscentinghorse.com/parts.htm This leather maglite holder attaches to the
saddle
horn with a adjustable leather strap with a Velcro break
away. It is than attached to your leg
with either a rubber band or a small
Velcro leather strap. It is anchored to the rear of your
saddle by a two ended quick snap. The
maglite attaches to the holder with a special clip so
it will not fall out even if held up side down.
This system stays in place even a lope. It allows for you
to adjust the downward angle that you
desire. When the light is posititioned in this slightly
downward forward angle you do the
have
to worry about blinding your horse, other horses or
mounted searchers with the movement
of your lights. When this system is combined with
a adjustable beam three cell mag lite you
light up at least a 40 ft. path where you can even
see a playing card on flat ground with no
cover out to the side at distance of at
least 20 ft.
The holder is reversible so you can attach it on either side
of the saddle. When you attach a
holder on each of your saddle it gives you a
consistent light source on both sides so your
eyes can naturally scan to the right,
left and forward of your horse.
The holder detaches from the saddle in seconds when
needed for ground searching. The
adjustable strap that hung around the saddle horn now becomes a shoulder strap. When
carried in this manner it keeps the searchers hands free for moving brush, climbing or note
taking. It also comes with four
attached d-rings and two way belt loops on the back so it
can be attached to yourself, your saddle or your ATV in a
variety of ways.
