I don't recall which one, but one of my gardening books talks about how planting carrots and onion next to each other can help ward off carrot fly and onion fly.  The carrot fly dislikes onion, and the onion fly dislikes carrot.  Alternate the rows and harvest entire rows at one time, to minimize the disturbance which also draws the flies.  I don't know that we've ever had either pest, but we've grown carrot and onion next to each other forever and I've never had one taste like the other.  Just a possibility........

It might, but I don't think it will affect the flavor of other crops.  But, it might ward off pests to the other crops.

Hi Everybody,

If we plant onions in between our cabbage, kale and tomatoes
will the onion smell/flavor go to the other vegetables?

Thanks!
