I wouldn't disagree Brigitte. I think we're both making valid observations about different things. It is pretty ugly out there right now, and a lot of it is irrational and mean-spirited.

Funny you should see it that way. I've been noticing, and complaining about, an equally aggressive anti-big ag (big being anything bigger than they are) attitude from a lot of producers in our area, and equally venomous comments,
often outright lies, from vendors at the farmers markets I attend. Same goes for a certain segment that is highly critical of every one who chooses to farm differently than they think one should be farming. Seemingly, it isn't enough to have differences of
opinion and go about the business of producing food and fiber, running our businesses, we have to be down right nasty toward those who disagree with our perspective. Even worse, people making outrageously misleading claims on the internet. Take the "pink slime"
incident recently. Totally incorrect information going viral. Where is this going to stop? At some point we've got to quit this bad behavior...I think there's enough bad behavior to go around from both, or shall I say many, sides of the issues. I guess one's
comfort level with the criticism, lies, and mud slinging depends whether one is on the "dishing it out" end or the receiving end.
In the end, all of this divisive behavior will serve no one well. Consumers are becoming confused by all the conflicting claims being made. How are they supposed to figure out if the claims are based on science, pseudo-science,
marketing or politics?
Just my little bit of venting,
Brigette
