Hi all-
I'm using a Gearmore (Made by Seppi) flail mower for mowing between rows in my orchard. There is a steel roller, about 5" in diameter, at the rear. The flails (knives) are forward of the roller. No matter how far backwards I position the mower (by adjusting the top link to make it longer) the knives still scrape the ground and dig in whenever the tractor goes over a small rise, I've always assumed that the mower should ride on the roller, following the contour of the surface I'm mowing. But I find that I can't mow with the rear hydraulics in "float" position- I have to raise the mower above the ground with the 3-point. This leaves it hanging suspended above the ground (the roller never touches the surface, and is useless as a guide).
Anybody have this problem, or a solution for it?
Thanks- Peter
