Keep in mind that, in a dry year, your underseeded crop will probably be
stealing valuable moisture from your main crop. That said, have any of you
found that certain underseeded crops take away less moisture than others?

Perhaps you should undersow edamame, and thus get a marketable crop out
of your smother crop? No idea how well that would work, but it sounds
like an interesting idea. I might try it eventually.
