Here's another presentation of interest at GPVGC 2010.

Soil Fertility & Plant Nutrition Topics by James Quinn, horticulture
extension specialist with Univ of Missouri has useful notes. But I
noticed his talk says BCSR - Base Cation Saturation Ratio came from
Bear in New Jersey and lacks any mention of William A. Albrecht
and co-authors at the University of Missouri who published widely
on cation exchange and the effects of balanced minerals on nutrition
of food and feed crops. Quinn's talk references the sandy soils of
New Jersey while Albrecht's work was based on substrate studies
using Putnam subsoil clay from Missouri.

I like his comparison of soil labs, University of Missouri and
Midwest Laboratories. But ML is fairly standard in its approach.

Meanwhile, Neil Kinsey and Perry Agricultural Labs are both located
in Missouri and use an advanced Albrecht approach to soil testing.

Just some observations,

Steve Diver

The Great Plains Vegetable Growers Conference held in St. Joseph, MO,
each year is a multi-state meeting and trade show.

They've held a High Tunnel workshop the day before the GPVGC going
back many years.

Here is the index to online presentations from speakers for 2010.
