I know of a farmer in Wisconsin that has good success by transplanting sweet corn.  He starts his corn in flats in his high-tunnel. Then using a transplanter they put them into bare soil when 5-6" tall.  Early germination in the high tunnel allows him to have corn early for his 600+ CSA members.

Plant with a planter that leaves a serious dirt ridge on echa side of the row.

Run a mulch layer with clear poly over each row, (depending on equipment
you may be able to get 2 rows under a 4' strip(

When corn plants are up against the poly slash with razor knife over each
plant/plants allowing it to gro up through.

When corn is knee high lift the poly off.
