Re:
Upcoming Cattle Auction for a Long-Time Farm Bureau
Friend
Through the years, many of you had
the pleasure of knowing and working with David Huse, formerly from Schoharie
County Farm Bureau. As you may be aware, David was killed earlier this
summer in a tragic accident while helping a neighbor to harvest some field
crops. It was typical of David’s long-standing service to the farm
community that he passed away while engaged in extending a helping hand to a
neighboring farmer.
David was a passionate advocate
for agriculture, and was an excellent beef producer. He spent many years
working on the bloodlines of his cattle, and was a consummate marketer of his
pasture-raised animals. His family, unfortunately, is not in a position
where they can care for his cattle or continue the farm as it had been operated
while David was involved. NYFB has received a request to help publicize
the David Huse Memorial Auction to anyone in the agricultural community who may
be interested in purchasing David’s carefully-tended cattle. It is
important to David’s family that the farm community be aware and help continue
what his family views as a critical part of his legacy – the maintenance and
development of the bloodlines he created.
To that end, there will be a
November Grassroots ad showcasing the upcoming sale, which will take
place on November 13th. I am also attaching a flyer
created by the family. Please feel free to distribute the flyer or the
information contained in it how you see fit; particularly if you know a beef
farmer who may be interested in purchasing some or all of David’s cattle.
This means a great deal to David’s
family, and in deference to and acknowledgement of the many hours he spent
serving the agricultural community, Schoharie CFB, and NYFB, I would like to
honor his family’s wishes. David is already missed by many of us, and
those of you who had the pleasure of knowing him through the years will, I am
sure, understand why we would like to make a special effort of honoring the
wishes of his family in this difficult time.
As always, if you have any
questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at the State Office
at (518) 436-8495. Best regards.
