We've found that bean beetles -- while they don't prefer them -- will start eating asparagus beans and southern peas if they run out of regular beans to eat... Ken Bezilla Acorn Community Farm central VA I am very late in responding to this thread, but want to add to slow to get going, and need heat.
The asparagus beans do need a fence or trellis and need some help to start climbing.
This is a pest-free bean vine in our experience. The Mexican bean beetles dont seem to be attracted to them.
