France began a partial ban on the use of Imidacloprid in 1999 because of evidence linking it to the condition we call CCD The 30% PLUS annual die off rate US beekeepers continue to experience started in France soon after sunflower and maze treated seeds began to be used.
In the fall of 2008 Italy joined Germany and Slovenia in banning Imidaclorprid because of the long term damage it was causing to honey bees.
