I know you'd prefer to find people with previous experience; but, if you're willing to train from scratch if necessary, you might put that in the ad.

I need to find a few good people to finish out the balance of this
season and hopefully comprise the core of my crew for next season.

Here is the ad I have placed on the NOFA NY website. I have also
submitted this to Cornell's Small Farms Update and others have posted it
for me on a local community college job board and have shared it at
several 4 year schools.

"Help Wanted. My certified organic farm is growing and needs a larger
crew, plus I need to replace a key person who is off to Belize in
August. The farm includes ½-acre strawberries, ½-acre brambles, 1+ acres
apples and tree fruit; ~14,000 sq ft hoop houses, ~1,000 sq ft
greenhouses, and 5+ acres vegetables on ~ 60 owned and rented acres.
Certified with NOFA-NY Certified Organic LLC since 2005. Three CSAs
(~200 shares), PYO berries, farm stand and some wholesale. Both
part-time and full-time (38 ½ hr workweek) positions available. Our farm
season is 9+ months long. Pay dependent upon experience, Healthy NY
health insurance available, disability insurance, workers comp and
overtime (time and a half) after 40 hours. We’re located in Phelps NY,
in the heart of the Finger Lakes, halfway between Rochester and Syracuse.

The ideal candidate(s) will have some experience in at least one aspect
of organic agriculture, construction or equipment maintenance, possibly
some academic training in horticulture, agriculture or natural
resources, a great work ethic, lots of curiosity, a drive to learn new
things, the ability to work independently and the desire to do a great
job. Must be able to lift and handle 50 lb bags and totes for extended
periods and be comfortable working outside in all types of weather.

This could be a great opportunity for someone to share their skills,
knowledge and expertise while gaining exposure and experience in all
facets of the farm including the business side. Look at our website:
www.FellenzFamilyFarm.com <http://www.fellenzfamilyfarm.com/> to learn
more about what we do. Contact us through the website or at
artisanfarms AT gmail.com <mailto:artisanfarms AT gmail.com> ."

Any suggestions on how to improve the ad? What about other locations for
placing the ad? This isn't a live at the farm internship type position.
I want to find a few people who want a job, like farm work, are willing
to stick around for a few years and have a place they call home to go to
each night. I start everyone at above minimum wage and will go
substantially higher for the right people.
