We grow both Lincoln and King Richard leeks for eating in October, November, December (zone 7), and King Seig and Tadorna for overwintering uncovered, to eat in January, February, March. Actually, we just dug the last of them, because we needed the space. We had several weeks this past winter when we couldn't dig them, because of frozen soil, so we still have plenty.

Although Lincoln is sold to market as skinny leeks in summer, I'm a believer in seasonal eating, and we save leeks for after the fall frosts, when there are fewer other options. Lincoln can grow big too.

Tadorna is very hardy, and fat. Not so tall as King Sieg, but very good. Better than Musselburgh in my opinion.
