>From my work developing software with a major opt-in email service provider, I can assure you that AOL is the bane of all legitimate email senders everywhere. One hopes that the spammers are even more frustrated? But to sell users on amazing ease of use and Internet For Everyone and then arm each and every one of those users with a button that creates collective punishment for so many people...seems...irresponsible of them at best!

Anyone looking for a free email account without missing features, there's a company called Google that has a clue and doesn't do this kind of thing. http://gmail.com/

So sorry to hear this, Liz. What an enormous pain. I at least wanted to share that others before you have survived similar Pearl Harbor AOL events, felt your pain, and lived to tell the tale.   :-)

AOL contacted ibiblio with a complaint by either all subscribers on this list with an aol address, or from one subscriber with an AOL address.  Surprisingly, AOL doesn't know which (that's easy to find out, but I'm getting this information third party and as such can't find out).  AOL is about to block all 500 of ibiblio's lists, not just this list, from all AOL subscribers, which of course is not wanted!!  So, those of you with AOL email addresses may find yourselves unsubscribed from this list.  If this happens, resubscribe at the link below (& if you by any chance have a different address than an AOL address I suggest you subscribe with the other one.  It's pretty slack for AOL to not  be able to differentiate complaints and email addresses).

Here's where to resubscribe if you find yourself suddenly unsubscribed: http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/market-farming

I'm gonna start with just unsubscribing the most apparent address, and if that doesn't work, then I'll have to do everyone unfortunately.  This affects about 60 subscribers.  I'm sorry but this is the only way.  We've tried to figure out other solutions, but there ain't any.

(And if by chance the complainer happens to read this---shame on you!!!  This list has run for 10 years without EVER EVER having a problem like this!  All you had to do was email me or even email through the list to unsubscribe you!  This was like setting off a nuclear missile to kill an annoying fly.  Instead of taking care of your problems, you've created problems for thousands of others subscribers of Ibiblio's email lists--a very valued resource--how thoughtfully selfish of you!)

Liz
