I try to plan my plantings so the weedier areas are planted last. Several
early cultivations will usually do the trick, even with quackgrass. I
transplant more than I'd like just to get in an extra pre-plant cultivation
or two, and transplanting into a stale seedbed is easier than seeding into a
stale seedbed.
