Vogelzang makes the kit you assemble yourself it takes me one hour to build a single barrel stove. You need an angle grinder to cut the stove openings. Use Harbor Freight 771 grinding wheels they are the fastest cutters I have found. You can see a picture and assembly instructions at Northern Tools web site. A single barrel stove heats 1000 sq ft house a double barrel is needed in a larger house. You would need two in a 3000 sq ft house one at each end. I set the stoves at one end two ft from poly walls and vent thru the wall with a two ft sq. metal area to support the flue and protect the poly. I use a small 18" fan to move heat around. Long horizontal flue pipes give off more heat but you will need additional draft from a small blower to be effective..Keep a bucket of water handy when cutting into a freebee barrel you never know when whatever the residue inside will catch fire or explode...Bob

I have always wondered about putting together a barrel stove for my tunnels for back up heat. How does yours work? Are you running it at one end of the tunnel and venting it out the endwall? Do you have a blower unit attached or are you just radiating heat? We supplement with wood heat during the winter, so I have lots of wood to burn and I am always cutting. I would love a picture or a description. Thanks!
