The one I use is a Westover Model RHB-32ATC. The acronym ATC stands for
automatic temperature compensating, which is very handy if you're going to
use it over a broad regime of temperatures. Its very easy to use. I've
measured soluble solids (sugars) in tomatoes, melons, peaches and grapes with
it. My understanding is that should be able to buy these things or
competitive models for about $100. They are available from many sources. Try
searching for grapegrower or winemaker supplies. Most of those sources carry
them.
