At least up to 1980 you could buy a self propelled vegetable transplanter
that also doubled as a picking aid. I have seen them in action on the onion
farms in Orange county NY... Bob.

The cart straddles one bed - the cart in
the pictures is approximately 5' OC between the wheels; we have since
modified the cart to be 4' OC between the wheels because we switched
to narrower beds.
Chris, since I am in the process of changing to wider bed spacing, I am
interested in why you are going to narrower beds, please. I have held off
making some equipment purchases til I settled on bed spacing, and am getting
ready to order. Maybe you can prevent me making a mistake. Thank you.
