All:  I always wait 30 days after incorporating rye -- just don't want to take a chance on low germination and having to replant.  Had a friend who planted quinoa right after the rye was incorporated and he had almost no germination and had to replant.

The allopathic effects of rye are spread throughout the root profile
deep tillage wont reduce it. The herbicidal effects of rye are greatly
exaggerated. I have never noticed any reduction of plant growth from rye
cover crops. I have seen all kinds of weeds growing in rye. Its always a
good idea to till under your rye before boot stage... Bob.

How long does the rye residue inhibit the sprouting of small seeded
crops?  I could not get oats untreated this fall, so planted rye instead
but am concerned about the suppression factor for early crops. We have a
spader which can chop and incorporate pretty well if that is beneficial.
