I always use a carpenter's apron, really it is a black waitressing apron with two large pockets in the front. I keep ones on one side and five dollar bills or larger on the other.
This way it is always with me, in front where I can see it and if I should take a stroll around to see what the other vendors have to offer I don't forget it and I have the money with me if I see something I want to buy.
I love handling my cash this way. I don't offer things that I have to deal with change though, although I used to and if you keep things in quater increments it works pretty well.
I do have a cash box I keep locked in the car out of sight though, just in case I get too many bills in my pocket. But the more you keep your money out of the public view, the less likely you will become a target.
Sassy
Paul,

Sorry for your loss. You've had more than your money stolen; the thieves
almost surely also stole some of your peace, too -- at least temporarily.
I've left money unattended, too, but always got by with it. Since taking a
bit of self-defense training, never again do I intend thus to tempt fate.

To everybody: My wife and I (and our market's main booth, where they sell
coffee, caps, aprons, etc.) use a cash box, but we've considered going to
a carpenter's apron so we never turn our backs on the cash. Anybody else
use 'em?
