(Marlin, is Johnny's OK with you for those of us who would like to help out? )

How touching to experience the sense of community here amongst folks, many of whom I have never met!  Yes, for those of you who wish to help, Johnny's is a satisfactory place to send donations.  They have been one of my favorite suppliers for years.  In fact I just placed a fairly large order of seeds and tools with them several days ago.  I guess it would be OK if you would want to apply something to that account.  Thank you so very much!

I must hasten to mention that another of my suppliers, E & R Seeds, in response to my request to resend the order I had placed around Jan 25, sent the order in what appeared to be a considerably larger box than the one containing my earlier order.  In the top was a brief note telling me that as a very small token of compensation for my loss they would not charge me anything for the replaced seed.  As I began digging into the packing peanuts covered contents I found other things besides seeds--a pack of socks, two blankets, and several towels.  This is what I would call going the second mile and I had not even asked them to go the first mile with me.  I need to order a few more seeds from them to round out my seed needs and plan to send a check in the mail in the next couple of days along with a letter of gratitude and a promise to send them some hard copy of the  story I am presently in process of writing about the fire.  I think they are Amish and do not use the Internet.  I would encourage all of you to give some of your seed and supplies business to E & R Seed in the future as I believe they are honest and deserving, hard working people.

Hi, I contacted Johnny's and they have set up a temporary charge account for Marlin   Anyone that would like to donate to help out can either send a check to the attention of Nancie Cabana, Accounting department or if you want to do a credit card, you can call Nancie at extension 257 and she can credit the account.  I think keeping the credit there rather than saving up for a gift certificate is the better way to go.   Just so Marlin knows that he has some credit available, I'd suggest anyone donating let Marlin know.
