I don't suppose this mulch is certifiable organic under the NOP?

I have never had any other greenhouse besides a hoop house so I really
can't compare. It handles snow load well and heats up fast. I bought
this one since it was less expensive than some others. I would have a
96 footer if I wanted to expand- hoophouses are easy to add on
purlins.. My husband is an OTR (over-the road) truck driver and so I
have help only one to two days per week. I need to be able to handle
things alone for the most part. Lu in Wis

Why I like the dome...

In my part of the country wind is a challenge -- gusts to 80 MPH coming off the mountains. The dome shape sheds the wind. I didn't need a foundation.

The design features makes it very energy efficient. I only add supplemental heat in the early spring when I'm starting seeds.

It looks cool. The geodesic dome is aesthetically pleasing both inside and out. It can be a retreat as well as a working area.

I'm doing market gardening now part time and eventually will do it to help supplement my retirement income. I'd at least do a 22 foot, maybe larger, but am putting the dome on my 1 acre homesite, so wouldn't want it to overwhelm the house. If I were farming for a living, I would have to look harder at the price comparisons for larger square feet structures. I have a neighbor who is also a small market gardener that is putting up a 26' dome on her 2 acre homesite.

Please be specific - what do you like about the dome greenhouse as compared to the conventional type? What size would you go to if you wanted it bigger and would you have startyed with that if you knew what you know now? Bev. Henkel

Has anyone used the starch based biodegradable black mulch? Did it go down
without tearing? Did it hold up in the weather? What's the verdict over
all?

Tried it once, saw little difference but my trash goes to an electric
generator ( plastics are 1900 Btu per lb) so I would rather pick it up than
have more unknown goo in my soil.

Using it this season. We'll know more about laying it - hopefully - by
the weekend and will be able to report on the rest at the end of the
season. Pricey stuff!! But, the labor saved from lifting mulch will
make up for it - in our operation - if it works otherwise.

We used some last Summer. We applied it about July 10 and planted fall crops
of several vegetables. I thought it handled well in the plastic layer and
stood up well during planting. But it did seem to develop small holes in it
throughout the season. By the end of the season it was pretty tattered.
Still, it seemed to do the job pretty well. I was going to take some of it
out and leave a little to evaluate breakdown into the following season. Then
we got wet and cold and the material was frozen into the ground. We'll see
how it looks in a few weeks. It's actually been under water the last 5 days.
