The soil you describe if well drained is about as good as soil gets for most
types of farming and I'm sure many people would gladly trade soils with you.
I used to farm on the same type of soil before it became an interstate
highway. Your test for P seems too high because silt loams are notorious for
tying up P. I would cut back or eliminate the chicken compost for a few years
and just add nitrogen as a sidedress. I farm on Sassafras sandy loam which is
regarded as the best all around soil for growing vegetables. That is because
the structure allows both root and above ground vegetables to grow equally
well. My soils test very high in nutrients as yours do and I only add
nitrogen and a little boron... Bob.
