Hi there,
I grew up in a big ag area of Central CA, where sugar beets were a
common crop - we'd see double trailor loads go thru town on their way to
places like C&H sugar co. in the bay area. I never heard of them being
used for human consumption - and they are just HUGE. I know of people
who grow Mangel (sp?) Beets as livestock feed. Those also are gigantic.
