It should be ripe now. Don't worry about the tendril. They are good
indicators for watermelons, but not necessarily for these kinds of melons.
If the vine is dying, the melon may not be as sweet as it should be. the
sugars you expect in the melon come from the leaves and if the vine is dying
the sugars may not be manufactured or can't make the travel through the
vine.
