We're now planting our garlic for next year and certain varieties will
make it through -50° cold snaps providing it's well mulched and we have
adequate snow cover. I was wondering about the shallots too. I guess
we'll wait on those till the spring.

Mike,
Unless you're warmer through the winter than I think, you should
probably
store the small bulbs in a cool, dark place until early Spring, and then
plant. They would probably freeze out if you fall-plant. They don't
overwinter well here.
