when corn gets to a certian size you cant cultivate it anymore without
damageing it as I am sure you know traditionaly in KY anyway corn gets
plowed and hoed out 3 times the last time ussualy around the first of july
then you dont mess with it anymore cultivateing a crop for the last time
that season is called laying it by.
