While sulfur is probably the most powerful/affordable soil acidification
material, gypsum will not acidify soil. Because it is calcium sulfate, it is
essentailly pH neutral. It has value for making clay soils more workably and
the sulfur and calcium are available as plant nutrients, you can't expect
soil pH changes from using it.
