(I used to use a woodstove to heat the greenhouse but as someone on
this list pointed out at the time, that is sure a lot of work getting
up in the middle of cold nights to feed the fires).
We built an earth-bermed greenhouse , about 12' x 25' with insulated walls and polycarbonate panels with some R-value. We heat it with a large airtight woodstove overnight and do not need to get up to stoke it at midnight, b/c it is so snug. We also keep barrels of water under the benches for extra thermal mass.
We feel that heating with a woodstove inside the greenhouse inhibits fungal problems by effectively drying the air. We burn a mixture of cheap slabwood and big chunks that we cut for overnight. Fuel costs are insignificant when compared with LP.
