Hi, JJ: For Christmas a few years back I bought my husband some Motorola two-way radios to communicate with when he was out in the woods hunting. I paid $99 on sale for the pair from Radio Shack. The radios had several different frequencies you could switch to, no FCC license to buy, a long-lasting battery and about a 3 mile limit. We have never had any problem with them and the audio quality is quite good. I think these radios have been improved by Motorola and are named something like "Walkabouts" or "Talkabouts" -- something like that.

We've used some cheaper two-way radios and it's saved many steps and
would really be handy farming with a one year old this summer. We've had
problems with reception and durability. Has anyone found a product that
holds up to farm use? Any price range recommendations of decent quality-
$50 ones won't last, what about the next step up?
