While we're on the subject of compost.....
I was turning my two new (two weeks old, turned 3 times sofar) piles of
horse manure (plus a little bedding, garden, and kitchen waste) and found
something I can't explain or understand.
One pile is cookin' like there's no tomorrow and doing really really well
(steam billowing out as the frontloader digs in a scoops it out). Ohhhhh!
Ahhhh!
The other pile -- same age, same volume, same basic ingredients, 20 ft away
--- is as cold as death! In addition, it's only about half finished!
I can certainly get it heated up again my adding more horse manure, but I'm
REALLY interested in understanding why this one isn't cookin' like the
other one! I've treated both piles the same (as far as I can tell).
Any ideas???
