Pat - How many weeks of harvest do you get from a planting? How frequently do you seed? Can you recommend varieties? Thanks Allan
We've been growing baby squash for several years - by baby, I mean no more than 1" diameter for patty pans or 1" for zucchini & yellow straightneck or crookneck. Our main customers are chefs & they all like "bite size", no bigger! We pick every other day & consistently sell out. We've found over the years that succession planting is best for us & the plants. We start in 50 cell plug trays & transfer to the field as soon as they're big enough to handle. We're on our 4th planting now & will do at least one more before this season ends. Priced at $4.50/#, with chefs ordering at least 10-20#s, they sure are a nice income crop.
