Hi Kevin,

I'm having a soil test done on the land that I'm wanting to grow a pumpkin
patch on. Depending on those results, I'm still ready to do something
this year. You warn about me probably being too late, and I'm not
ignoring you. I have *no* experience at all growing a huge field of
pumpkins. However, I'd like you to help me understand some stuff. "The
New Seed Starters Handbook" says that pumpkin seeds germinate best if the
soil temp is 95F. So this tells me that even my climate (southeast
Arizona) will probably allow these seeds to germinate ok. The point you
raise about the flowers is something I'm taking into serious
consideration. However, you say that the heat of August will make the
flowers unhappy. I'd like you to take a look at the following website:

http://www.city-data.com/city/Whetstone-Arizona.html

Scroll down a bit and you'll see climate info tables. Do the average
highs and lows make it possible for me to expect some level of success?
Usually June is our hottest month, becuase then the monsoons come in July,
Aug and Sept and cool the afternoons down quite a bit (100F+ down to 70F
is not uncommon -- and this happens practically every day).

Thanks for all the help.
