Oil is the best and safest form of petroleum fuel to heat a greenhouse
with but there are no really small compact oil heaters that will fit
into the small hobby size greenhouses the folks were talking about. The
problem with propane in the northeast is that there are just a few
dealers that require you to sign a contract giving them exclusive rights
to sell you fuel, they own the tanks.
Two years ago a contract dealer wanted to charge me $2.30 a gallon for
propane another dealer who sells without contracts told me to install a
1000 gallon tank that I owned and he would fill it for 99 cents a
gallon.
BTW. I have a friend who had a 10x20 ft hobby house running on natural
gas, the heater shut down in the night, he and his wife when out and
restarted the heater, they did not know gas vapors were on the floor,
the house exploded, they were burned from head to toe.. Bob.
