The corporate agribusiness line always begins with some song and dance
about family farms and rural decline being the inevitable result of "market
efficiencies", or progress, or some similar horsehockey. It is not. We know
it's all about politics, big money rules politics, politics writes the
legislation and runs the bureaucracies that implement the programs,
politicians must have big money to even stay in the running, those with big
money get to pick candidates in both parties, and corporate agribusiness is
the really big money in politics. It is not a free market; it's rigged
against independents everywhere. That's why market farming is so critically
important--and also why they have to disrupt the movement and convince
independents they can't make it.
