I think there is a difference between local farmers/sales etc. and with an
entity aspiring to be a regionally or nationally recognized brand. You need
recognition when that product is in front of consumers and beside another
product. --i.e. at the grocery store.
Direct marketing on a small scale in a whole 'nother ballgame.
I'm no expert, but I've never heard of anyone having any success with
advertising.
There is something about advertising on a large scale/professional developed
that seems contrary to the local farmer/consumer relationship, and personal
and honesty, down home concept of direct marketing local/farm fresh
products anyway. Maybe it would work. . . . if I wanted to be Orville
Redenbacher. On a small scale I don't think it WILL work.
