Purple Martins are a member of the swallow family and only eat on the wing, I
have seen small swarms of them when combining grain and cutting hay they
swoop down and eat all the flying insects, there is a nasty pest of a wasp
called the imported european paper wasp that does a GREAT job of eating
insects off cole crops but this wasp is becoming invasive and spreading west
from the northeast USA, I dont think you will like them when they reach your
backyards...Bob.
