I have used a back pack flamer this last season. I used it inbetween rows
of black plastic mulch. It worked well on small weeds. Don't let the weeds
get away from you. Of course by flaming and not cultivating you don't
stimulate weed germination. I had to go over everything again but the
second time there were a lot fewer weeds.
