For deer: we plant a small game plot out in the woods which helps a
little. Dogs kept them away at first but now they come up on the porch
and eat out of the dog's bowl even while the dog is there.
Johnson grass: Chemicals don't get rid of it permently, it will come
back next year if you don't reapply. Burning a tobacco bed would kill it
but that isn't something you can do on several acres. Planting a cover
crop of wheat in the fall and then turning it under in the spring with a
few light cultivations gives fair control. You still may have to do
some hand hoeing.
