Mike,
The best book by far I've used for growing
lettuces and other greens is another book by Joy Larkcom, The Salad
Garden. You won't find iceberg in these pages! Covering the more
unusual salad mixes market gardeners grow, she goes into depth,
explaining types of greens, cultural practices, best ways to
harvest, and recipes. Included are a couple of sections on a few
veggies, herbs and flowers that are usually eaten in salads. The best
page is 158, listing various mixtures you can create, incorporating
different flavors, separated by the growing seasons. Hope this
helps!
