Registration space is limited for each workshop to ensure a better learning experience.

Early registration for full-day workshops is $55.00, half-day workshops fees are available. For additional information/registration call Frontier Natural Co-op customer service at 1-800-729-5422 extension 1282.

All workshops will be held at the Frontier Natural Co-Op Organic Research Farm in Norway, Iowa.

September 14, 2000 (8:00-5:30pm): Growing Herbs Organically - From Seed to Harvest. This full-day course also includes quality assurance information, consumer trends and grower experiences with crop successes and failures. Presenter is Tim Blakely, well known herbalist and author of Growing Medicinal Herbs. This workshop is targeted to the beginning growers.

September 15, 2000 (8:00-12:30pm): Expanding Your Knowledge - Forming Grower Co-operatives. 1/2 day morning workshop features Jeff Jobe from the US Dept. of Agriculture regarding the steps neccesary for forming grower co-operatives; and Iowa's Local Food Systems Specialist Mary Swall Holmes will discuss value-added agricultural opportunities for organic herb producers. For beggining and experienced growers.

September 15, 2000 (1:00pm-5:30PM): Expanding Your Knowledge - Markets, Diseases & Equiptment. 1/2 day afternoon participatory workshop. The farm staff will present research findings regarding disease and insect controls and the Purchasing Dept. will discuss current market opportunities. Growers will participate in a panel discussion on equiptment modification and uses. This workshop is for growers with experience in organic cultivation and the processing of medicinal herbs.

These are wonderful opportunities to network and exchange experiences with fellow growers and researchers in organic farming. This could also be a great opportunity for some of the members on this list to meet face-to-face! Consider getting together a caravan, ride-share, small tour-bus, etc. to bring down the cost of travel for those who don't live in the Iowa area but would still like to participate in these workshops.

Blessings,
Ava
